SEISMIC EVENT: EASTERN HONSHU 23 JULY 2008 15:26 UTC 6.8 MW
The following preliminary information is available for this earthquake:

ORIGIN TIME : 15:26 20s UTC
LAT/LONG : 39.807=B0 North / 141.467=B0 East
DEPTH : 111 km=20
MAGNITUDE : 6.8 Mw
LOCALITY : Eastern Honshu, Japan
Latest reports indicate that over 125 people have been injured by this eart=
hquake which occurred approximately 500 km NNE of Tokyo. Landslides were re=
ported at several locations, power was cut to at least 8,000 homes in the e=
picentral area and Japan's 'bullet' super-express trains were suspended. =20
This earthquake locates approximately 100 km NE of a magnitude 6.9 earthqua=
ke that occurred last month, on 13 June, that killed 12 people and injured =
at least 300 others and approximately 275 km NW of a magnitude 7.0 earthqua=
ke that occurred last week, on 19 July.
