SEISMIC ALERT: HALMAHERA, INDONESIA  11 SEPTEMBER 2008  00:00 UTC  6.6 MW

LAT/LONG	:	1.87? North / 127.44? East
DEPTH		:	93 km
MAGNITUDE	:	6.6 Mw
LOCALITY	:	Halmahera, Indonesia

No reports of damage or casualties have been received.

The Indonesia Seismological Agency issued a tsunami alert for the region as an earthquake of this size has the potential to generate a tsunami that can strike coastlines in the area.  However, this was later cancelled.
