BGS have received numerous reports via Colwyn Bay police, the media, and residents of several towns located along the North Wales coast between Conwy to the west and Rhyl to the east. Reports are of an event sometime between 18:00 and 18:05 BST this evening. Reports described, "heard a loud boom noise and all the houses shook", "the windows rattled", "it shook our cottages and everyone is very scared" and "felt two blasts/explosions". Data from the BGS rapid-access networks in the region were examined and a signal consistent with a sonic origin was recorded at around 16:59 UTC on a microphone situated in the north of Anglesey. The reports received are consistent with historical observations received for previous events with a sonic origin.

The RAF has been contacted but at this time is unable to confirm if aircraft were operational at the time of the incident.
