BGS ALERT: SONIC EVENTS  - COUNTIES SURROUNDING LIVERPOOL BAY AREA 25 MAY 2=
006  13:10-13:30 UTC

BGS has received information from members of the public and the media of ev=
ents between 13:10 and 13:30 UTC from the areas of North Wales,  Cheshire a=
nd Merseyside. Reports described, "a low, rolling rumble", "the whole house=
 seemed to shake" and "windows rattling" Data from the BGS rapid-access net=
works in the region were examined and no tectonic seismic events were detec=
ted. However, the reports received are consistent with historical observati=
ons received for previous events with a sonic origin. =09

British Aerospace were contacted and have confirmed that a Typhoon Euro-fig=
hter was on supersonic exercises over the Irish Sea.
