Description: | The Sismolsgico Center of Central America , initiated its operations in May of 1998 and this located in the Central American School of Geology, University of Costa Rica. Between the fundamental objectives of this center this, to analyze in real time the magnitude earthquakes > 4,0 registered by the stations of Central America and to be a permanent file of seismic data for the region. This center was created within the project "Reduction of Natural Disasters in America Power station" phase II 1996-2000. In 1992, within the frame of the project "Reduction of Natural Disasters in America Power station" phase I, was created the first sismolsgicos data bank of Central America, where the main objective was to collect data of the countries of the region, to unite them and to produce bulletins. In order to distribute the service load that that implied, during the years 1992-1994 east bank shared between some of the participant institutions. The experiences lived within phase I, indicated that best it region was to establish a permanent data bank. After studying some proposals the seat at the beginning of 1998 was granted, to the Central American School of Geology of the University of Costa Rica. |
