Description: | The on-shore seismological experiment CINCA 95 was was part of a combined off-shore on-shore experiment in northern Chile. Three E-W seismic refraction profiles were measured between the coast and the Western Cordillera. The airgun-pulses were fired mainly along three lines at 210S, 220S and 23030'S and recorded on land with 22 PDAS-100 digital instruments (equipped with 1-Hz three-component geophones MARK L4C-3D). The land stations were deployed twice resulting in an average spacing of 3-6 km. The average spacing of the airgun pulses was 160 m and the average length of the lines was 160 km. Along the same profiles land blasts and explosions off the coast were realized to obtain additional seismic refraction sections. The charges varied between 700-1000 kg for the land blasts and 200 kg for the sea blasts. A seismological network, composed of 35 Stations installed in the Coastal Cordillera, operated during and after the active seismic experiment, including recording of the aftershocks of the 30.7.1995 Antofagasta-earthquake. |
