Publications: | Olson, D. R., C. Frohlich, and Y. Nakamura, 1991. Earthquake locations from OBS and local network records near Efate, New Hebrides Trench, Vanuatu, EOS, 72, 348. |
Description: | About 350 earthquakes that we located during the experiment for which we had at least 4 P phases and one S phase. Note that we located no ISC earthquakes because with the equipment we were running at the time if the quakes are big enough to make it to ISC the S phases get clipped, and hence they do not satisfy the "1-S" criterion. Although this was a rather nice experiment we never published the results. Nevertheless, the locations should be as good or better than in most experiments. And, the results include the best (only?) reliable depths for a populous "nest" of earthquakes that occurs to the east of Efate. |
