Description: | Project INDEPTH (InterNational DEep Profiling of Tibet and the Himalaya) is an interdisciplinary program of geophysical and geological studies designed to develop a better understanding of the deep structure and mechanics of the Himalaya-Tibet region. It represents a major collaboration between the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences of the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources and a number of institutions from the US, Germany, and Canada. Funding for INDEPTH has thus far come from the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources of China, the Continental Dynamics Program of the U.S. National Science Foundation, the Chinese National Natural Science Foundation, the Deutches ForschungsGemeinschaft, and the GeoforschungsZentrum Potsdam (DEKORP). |
